RC Monster Trucks: What’s All The Fuss About?

People who are enthusiasts of RC monster truck racing and building know what an exciting hobby this can be. But if you’re new to the scene, or if you have someone in your life who is a big fan, you may want to learn a little bit more, to get a sense of what these trucks are all about.

The RC monster truck is a combination of two things: the remote control car, and the monster truck. Remote control cars have been in use for decades now, becoming more and more refined as the technology improves. Most of the time, we think of these cars as being children’s toys, and to some extent, this is true because there are tens of thousands of these toys sold each year.

But a step up from toy grade remote control vehicles are the hobby grade vehicles. These offer more speed, more performance, stronger radio signals, more off road capability, better steering response, and the list goes on. Remote control racing, which is hobby grade, also comes out with slightly larger vehicles than you might typically find in a toy store.

This is particularly true with remote control monster trucks. Imagine the full size monster trucks: massive wheels, massively powerful engines, raw durability that is so big that it seems, well, monster-sized. What these are in comparison to your standard family car, the remote control version is to your standard remote control car, too.

RC monster truck racing lets drivers feel the speed and exhilaration of a race without having to invest in a full size vehicle. It makes a great hobby. And another part of the appeal is that when you get up into hobby grade trucks (as opposed to the remote control toys), you also get more flexibility and control over the inner mechanics of the machine.

So when you buy a monster truck to use in remote control racing, you don’t have to just buy a truck that comes ready to drive out of the box (but you can). You can put together a kit, order replacement parts, and even choose what sort of engine and fuel will power your RC monster truck. The possibilities are endless.
